Small. Slow. Weird.

H.O.P.E Food Pantry

H.O.P.E. is a cooperative effort serving along with other churches and the Oregon Food Bank. Our volunteers come from several area churches and the community at large; by working together, we create a great sense of community as we serve families in need in the Oregon City area.

Our primary function is to provide a 3 to 5 day emergency supply of food to those families in need (using poverty income guidelines from the Federal Government). In addition to food we also provide some dignity/hygiene items when available: toilet paper, personal and laundry soap.

The bulk of our food comes from the Oregon Food Bank and that is supplemented by donations from local stores in the area. We get bread from Safeway and Gleaners as well as pastries from Starbucks. Market of Choice contributes produce, milk and other grocery items.

Our mission is found in Christian scripture: “He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.” We hope that at the end of a busy Friday pantry day that our clients can see this motto in action by our volunteers.
